Based on 3,580 reviews

O Velho Eurico is widely praised for its exceptional Portuguese cuisine, particularly its seafood and traditional dishes such as bacalhau, piglet pastry, and duck rice. Guests frequently highlight the rich flavors and authentic, rustic preparation that contribute to a memorable dining experience. The restaurant's wine bar and vegetarian options also receive positive mentions. However, a common theme is the lengthy wait times, often up to two hours, which makes reservations highly recommended. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff are generally described as friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. The combination of excellent food and welcoming service makes O Velho Eurico a standout choice for those willing to embrace the wait and savor genuine Portuguese flavors.

The food was excellent!!! So tasty, so delicious. Everything was so yummy. The tomato salad was so well prepared. BACALHAU must be tried. So yummy! Unfortunately, the restaurant was so busy and the waiting time was so long. It's worth waiting, but if you don't want to wait, this is not the one for you. The service was ok, the staff are friendly. I recommend that you make a reservation. People with a reservation will be prioritized here. Without reservation, you'll wait 60〜90 minutes.

Amazing amazing food and drink. Very friendly service. The staff serve shots while you wait for your table. They are famous for their piglet pastry , the cod dish and the duck rice. They serve drinks , the piglet pastry and sardine dish through the window while you wait for the table. If you don’t have a reservation, prepare yourself for ~2 hour wait. It was a memorable experience for us.

We had a great time here. Reserved in advance and got a table right away, however saw some people come early and put their name on the waiting list for the next available table so that is also an option. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Waiters were also very attentive and kind. Definitely recommend!

We dined here last night and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we've had during our five-week trip around Europe! A word of advice: go in with an open mind. Be willing to try new things and embrace the authentic, rustic charm of the place - if you do, you’ll absolutely love it. We didn’t have a reservation and arrived around 7:15 PM. The staff added us to the waitlist and estimated about a 1–1.5 hour wait. No problem! We grabbed a drink at a nearby bar, then returned to enjoy a drink in their outdoor area before being seated. We were lucky enough to be seated at the bar, which turned out to be a real treat - we got a front-row view of the kitchen where everything was cooked with love, passion, and incredible efficiency. We ordered the duck rice, piri piri chicken, squid with orange sauce, and fries. Every single dish was phenomenal - packed with flavour and beautifully prepared. To top it all off, we ended the night with their delicious sponge cake, enjoyed great conversation with the friendly staff and fellow diners, and left with huge smiles on our faces. Highly recommend this spot - it’s a true gem!

Wow, what an experience! This place offered the best food we had in Portugal. Highly recommended by a friend, it lived up to expectations. Despite not having reservations, we arrived 15 minutes before opening and found a queue already formed. It took us 2 hours from arrival to finally get a table. Every dish was delicious, and the service was exceptional.

Lo mejor de Lisboa y el servicio es fanatico, muchas gracias por la experiencia. David y todo los cocineros y servidores muchas gracias. The food was very good it did not disappoint. Love the atmosphere it feels like family and welcoming when you walk in. Make sure to book a reservation well in advance or come at 1930 for waitlist to open. It was worth the wait.

We visited for lunch and were so impressed that we returned for dinner before leaving. Every dish we tried — from the octopus, duck rice, bacalhau, and squid to the lamb belly — was exceptional. The desserts were equally delightful. What truly stood out, beyond the outstanding food, was the passion and warmth of the staff. They created an atmosphere that felt effortless and welcoming, where guests are encouraged to simply enjoy the moment rather than feel rushed. Despite the long queue, they never overbook or pressure guests — there’s no long waiting list just to turn over tables quickly. This respect for the dining experience is rare and deeply appreciated. Moreover, the pricing is remarkably fair, especially considering the quality of both the food and service. This is a place where hospitality is practiced with heart, not just with business in mind — a refreshing and memorable experience.

Absolutely loved this place! Best food I’ve had in Portugal! My favorite was the duck rice, I loved it so much I ordered it twice! We also got the chicken piri, cod, squid, and fries. Definitely get there at 7pm (they don’t open until 7:30),because the line gets long quickly (if you don’t have a reservation). If you are in line early then you have a higher chance of being seated sooner or like us, we got seated when they opened. The orange wine was really yummy with the duck rice and squid. The bread cake dessert was yummy too but I wish we tried the flan.
